Artist's Comments
This is one of the most popular paintings of African Wildlife that I have painted. It depicts a leopard stalking in a night time setting. (Leopards are elusive animals at the best of times, so night hunting can be preferable)
Much focus was placed on the eyes - almost drawing you in. The original is 80cm by 1 meter (metric) acrylic on canvas. Before my rediscovery of oils I did many such paintings in acrylic, because of its quick drying properties it allowed for very fine detail particularly in the hair. I am currently more a fan of oils - it seems to hold much more life for me.
