The Predator

One of the most popular of African Wildlife that I've painted, a leopard stalking through a night time setting.
(Leopards are elusive animals at the best of times, so night hunting can be preferable)

Much focus was placed on the eyes, working on a composition of thirds - almost drawing you in.
Original 80cm x 1 meter acrylic on canvas.

Before my rediscovery of oils I completed many such paintings in acrylic. Because of its quick drying properties it allowed for very fine detail particularly in the hair. I am currently more a fan of oils - which holds more life for me.
