It is attainable - While certain of the constituent goals may not be because the definition of world peace changes with nation. So, in achieving a comprehensive and a complicated goal, within a timespan of a few decades, may be, this goal can be achieved to a fairly decent levels, if the whole thing is not a hyped up issue.
One point that helps me realize this is the progress mankind has made in the last one century and in the last few decades alone, both good and bad. And we are being conscious of all that we have achieved and so it will continue with newer challenges/goals and with better resources both knowledgeable and wise for this future goal.
The implementation of strategies towards this goal as always will be a top to bottom (hierarchial) approach in the societies by the respective governments and depends on various factors per nation. Knowledge, Education, Awareness, Poverty play an important role in this. So, if these areas are focussed we might consider our nearing to the goal, without ignoring the environmental issues that are equally important.

I love this poll... i am not an expert of anything... but i feel it is attainable with the limited knowledge that i have earned in my life... atleast i am trying to be positive about it.

I do not think that world peace is attainable. There will always be snakes in the grass so to speak, and bad apples are always going to be picked no matter what.
I think it is attainable to be a hell of a lot better than the current state is, though.
If we can attain it, which I doubt, how long do you think we can hold on to it for? I voted "It's in our nature to NOT be at Peace", because with over 6 billion people on the planet, they are not all always going to be happy to hold hands and sing songs. Different people want different things, and that's a lot of differences that I don't believe humanity has the ability to overcome. The only way I see peace happening is if it is enforced, which sort of cancels it out anyway.
